I know, it is actually 19th October but after almost 3 weeks in South Africa with all those signs saying "Free WiFi" in hotels etc. I will never again critiscise TRNC internet providers for their performance. Somebody sent me an e-mail with a photo attachment and it took more than 15 minutes to download, very glad it said "Free WiFi"

Anyway it is time to try to catch up as officially today 2nd October we landed in Cape Town after a good flight with Qatar Airways via Doha and a flight change there. We were met at the airport and taken to our hotel "The Blackheath Lodge" by a taxi system that was organised by East Cape Tours. The driver was holding up a poster that said Frank Griffin so it was a good job that I twigged the mistake. In fact when we tried to check in, the hotel had the same name, somebody got that wrong!.

Also we found that what had been given to us as a hotel close to the V&A waterfront area, turned out to be a 1.5 hour walk, not good. We arrived there and found a bar that served nice cold drinks, much needed by now and sat it out until our friends Gustaf and Judith arrived. These are two people whom we met when we were in South Africa 3 years ago and who live here in a place called Franschhoek, which is in the wine region and where Gustaf works for Richard Branson on his Wine Estate. More about that when we visit in a couple of days.

We had a very enjoyable meal together here on the waterfront, spent a few hours catching up and arranging to meet up with them in a few days when we get to their town.
