Rain, rain and more rain, that's all we seem to have had since we got here. There is a boat across the road which we can use and an outboard motor that just requires some fuel, but nobody wants to fill up the tank and then sit around watching it rain.

Today we decided to be brave, take a couple of umbrellas and walk to the bus stop and get the bus to Aphen-on-the Rijn, wander the shopping area a bit. We were lucky later on and able to find a bit of sunshine so that we could sit alongside the Rijn watch the barges go by over a couple of beers. Joan was suitably impressed as she stumbled over a lovely summer dress in the sales, so she went home a happy bunny.

This evening the three of us walked the few hundred meters to the local lakeside pub and had some of their comfort style food for dinner. You know the sort of thing, anything but the plate filled up with lots of chips. Cheap, cherful and very filling.
