Today is our last day in Holland this trip so we decided to walk over to our old neighbours, Jan & Lien, enjoy their coffee and reminisce over the times when we lived there. From there we walked over to the Industrial area where the annual hut building event is taking place. Henk, Kity's neighbour and the owner of the Multimate DIY storehas always been involved in this fun event.

There is a large field, which is flooded in the winter to form an ice rink but in the summer there is a kids hut building contest. Firms around the Industrial estate, save all their pallets and spare hardboard sheets so that the kids can build, under strict supervision, huts to sleep in for one night only. There is music, a burger tent and other thinfgs to amuse. Every year about 500 kids take part and this event was taking place when we lived in Nieuwkoop in 1976 to 1983.

15th August 2016

We didn't find Henk there, only his son, but we did find him back in his museum when we got back to Kitty, so where able to say cheerio there.

Final stop off at Jumbo to buy coffee pads for home and some fresh currant buns, can't go home without them. We also bought some cold meats and some buns to make sandwiches for the journey.

Sam collected Joan at 7 pm for a Zumba class again so it was just me with the family for dinner tonight. We were still sitting outside on the waterside when Joan got back enjoying the last few beers together before the family dump us at the airport tomorrow lunchtime.
